„We want as many foreigners as possible to come and work in Serbia“
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said that the authorities want to bring as many foreigners as possible to live and work in Serbia this year and that she hopes that their inflow will be higher than in the previous year.
In 2022, more than 65,000 foreign citizens applied for a residence permit in Serbia, and 35,000 applied for a work permit. In the first month and a half, more than 8,000 wanted to come and work in Serbia, Brnabic said.
She specified that out of 35,000 applications, 30,000 foreigners received a work permit, because some were rejected, and some of them are in the procedure.
According to the prime minister, the largest number of applications for a residence permit is due to family reunification with a family member who already works in Serbia, and that is why the proposed amendments to the Law on Foreigners, which will be adopted in March, will provide for automatic approval of residence for these persons.
