The municipality „liquidated“ the company and left workers on the street

Less than two months ago municipal authorities in Smederevska Palanka closed the Public Utility Enterprise “Pijaca, zelenilo i cistoca”, leaving 46 workers without job, and majority of them, as already former workers of this enterprise claim for the “Danas” daily, did not receive late salaries, thus some of them are even claiming 18 salaries.

“Provisional Authority of the Local Self-Government made a decision in this year’s February to take away all business activities of this enterprise and to assign them to another public enterprise Public Utility Enterprise “Opstinska groblja.” In mid-October, the company was liquidated, and workers were left without 18 salaries, while a postpartum woman is claiming 20 salaries,” workers emphasize for the “Danas” daily.

At the time, they say, the company remained without a single business activity, even though it had a green market, a small flea market and a regular one, as well as parking charge.

They were, as they claim, then sent on annual vacations, then they received days off, only to receive a paid leave at the beginning of September of 45 days, due to reduced work load. None of them received an offer to work for Public Utility Enterprise “Opstinska groblja”, and following liquidation of their enterprise they were told that they cannot charge their claims.
