Importer of Zastava oruzje for USA targeted by hackers
The general importer and distributor for the USA of the Serbian factory Zastava oruzje based in Kragujevac, the company Zastava Arms USA, announced that it had become a target of cyber criminals in the last few days.
“On two fake websites that imitate the original Zastava Arms USA website (zastavaarmsusa.com), called www.zastavaarmstore.com and www.zastavaarmshop.com, interested buyers are offered to buy guns and rifles from Zastava’s program using bitcoin or the Zelle app. Cheated customers will not only not receive the product, but they will also not be able to receive a refund,“ the company Zastava Arms USA warns.
As the owner of the company Ranko Ristic told the Beta agency, the difference in the name between real and fake websites is in just a few letters, which is „a trap for careless customers to think that they are buying from the original company, they even copied the images of products and the company logo from the official website“.
He stated that they had already received reports of the first victims of these fake websites, but he explained that deceived customers could not receive a refund.
„Such frauds pose a great risk not only to Zastava, but also to the other Serbian companies in the arms industry, given that Zastava’s brand has recently been expanding on the markets across the world. Zastava’s production program consists of a wide range of weapons, including guns, revolvers, rifles, hunting equipment, etc,“ Ristic said.
In addition to cybercriminals, the breakthrough of Zastava’s weapons onto the US market has also attracted those who “deal with illegal activities and try to use the popular brand to make money on the black market.”
