Regional railways will be completely reconstructed next year
By the end of the year, the reconstruction of 280 kilometres of regional railways in the country will be completed, while the reconstruction of a total of 318 kilometres of railways is planned for 2019, says the CEO of the company Infrastruktura zeleznice Srbije, Miroljub Jevtic.
„This means that, by the end of next year, Infrastruktura zeleznice Srbije will almost completely finish the reconstruction of regional railways in our country,“ Jevtic said, as it is stated in a press release of Infrastruktura zeleznice Srbije.
He pointed out that the reconstruction of the railways Nis-Zajecar (108 km), Lapovo-Kraljevo (84 km), Subotica-Senta (38.5 km), Markovac-Resavica (53 km), section Kumane-Banatsko Milosevo (28.5) km) of the railway Zrenjanin-Kikinda, as well as the Kikinda-MSK Kikinda railway (six km) was planned in 2019.
According to him, the current speed of trains on these railways is far lower than the designed speed. For instance, trains between Markovac and Resavica, Kumane and Banatsko Milosevo travel at the speed of only 10-20 kilometres per hour.
