Prime Minister at GDP Council: January results exceed expectations

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said that Serbia is expected to achieve economic growth of 2.5 percent of GDP this year, and that „the results in January are better than expected“.

As it was announced by the Prime Minister’s office, at the session of the Council for Coordination of Activities and Measures for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Growth, which Brnabic chaired, it was noted that in the first quarter of 2023, the projected growth was „achieved“.

At the session, it was pointed out that in order to preserve sustainable economic growth, further investments in capital projects are necessary in the field of road, rail and healthcare infrastructure.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the field of information technologies last year „achieved excellent results, which must be surpassed in 2023, since this area represents the future and one of the key areas for economic growth“.

The prime minister said that a special emphasis was placed on expanding into new markets for export of domestic products.
