NO INCREASE in gas price by the end of winter

State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Jovanka Atanackovic, has stated that the price of gas in Serbia is guaranteed and that no price increases are planned until the end of the next winter season.

„Citizens can count on having enough energy products and that the situation will be stable in winter. We have a guaranteed gas price and it will not change. It is not planned to change until the end of the winter season,“ Atanackovic told Insider TV.

Regarding the agreement reached in a telephone conversation between presidents of Serbia and Russia, Aleksandar Vucic and Vladimir Putin, on the basis of which a new three-year agreement on gas purchase will be signed, whose price per cubic meter will cost 10 to 12 times less than in Europe, Atanackovic said that it was „an extremely favourable arrangement for Serbia“.

She also pointed out that in addition to the agreement, on the basis of which 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas should be procured from Russia, out of three billion cubic meters Serbia needs annually, we will have to buy additional 800 million cubic meters of gas at the market price, in order to meet Serbia’s needs.

„What is certain is that the price of those additional 800 million cubic meters of gas will be higher than the one that is contracted and that it will be based on market principles. We can talk about that with Russia, but also with other suppliers. We are not limited in that sense,“ she added.
