Nemanja Vidic withdraws candidacy for FFS president
Former national team football player Nemanja Vidic withdrew his candidacy for the president of the Football Federation of Serbia.
In a statement given to Tanjug by Nemanja Vidic, the former football ace said that it was made clear to him on his path to the FFS that he would not be given the chance.
“We have a lot of challenges ahead of us in football. A lot of things have to be better and can be better. My idea has been, and it still is, to bring together a team of top professionals who are able to solve these challenges better than perhaps anyone in Europe.”
„Unfortunately, at every step of the way towards becoming president of the FFS it has been made clear to me that we will not be given that chance. I would like to inform you that I am withdrawing my candidacy for FFS president,“Vidic said in a statement.
“The responsibility for solving the great challenges before us is taken over by the same group of people who created them. I am definitely not optimistic about what they will do with the opportunity they have seized and I think that in four years it will be even harder than today,“ Vidic said.
They „voted“ before the voting
„Withdrawing my candidacy does not mean that I am giving up on Serbian football. I believe in my team and our vision, as well as the great help we will get from our friends from the top of European and world football. What is not possible to start doing today, unfortunately – my team and I will, I believe, do in the near future. That is not possible right now“.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported me in this process, especially everyone who publicly supported me despite great pressures. I am extremely glad that I experienced great support among the people,“ Vidic added.
