Elections to be repeated at about 50 polling stations in Belgrade?

Presidential elections, snap parliamentary and elections for the Belgrade Assembly and 13 other cities and municipalities were held in Serbia on Sunday (April 3).

According to preliminary results, Aleksandar Vucic won the first round of elections for the president of Serbia, and the Serbian Progressive Party’s lists won the majority of votes in the parliamentary and Belgrade elections.

However, at some polling stations in Belgrade, the elections could be repeated, according to the unofficial information, inspected by the BIZLife portal editorial staff, obtained from the CRTA organization, which deals with election observation, among other things.

As they stated, so far it has not been revealed which polling stations or which municipalities those are.

The reason for the repetition of the elections could be violations of the rules at the polling stations.

    Irregularities in Belgrade

As CRTA previously stated, at five percent of polling stations in Serbia and Belgrade continuous repetitions of gross violations of the rules were observed, which, as they add, seriously compromised the integrity of the election day in these places, but the extent of these incidents could not affect the final outcome of the elections in Serbia and Belgrade.

„During the election day, the unwillingness of the electoral boards to fully ensure the voting process in accordance with procedures was noted. This is evidenced by the fact that 18% of polling stations were not prepared in accordance with the procedures, while on the territory of Belgrade this percentage was 6. The most frequently recorded irregularities are: keeping parallel records inside and around polling stations, violating the secrecy of voting, pressure on voters and buying votes,“ the press release adds.

After the polling stations closed at 8 p.m., according to the observers’ report, there were voters in Serbia who wanted to vote at 11 percent of the polling stations, but in just under half of those places they were denied that right in Serbia.
