Director pays money to himself, damaging the company for EUR 383,000

Due to the suspicion that he paid himself money from his company’s account and spent it for personal needs, damaging the company in Medjimurje by almost 400,000 euros, the police announced pressing criminal charges against the 35-year-old.

The Medjimurje police stated that the aforementioned person was suspected of violating the duty to protect the interests of the company whose property interests he was obliged to take care of, as the director and responsible representative of the company, from the beginning of 2018 to the end of 2021.

The criminal investigation determined that he paid HRK 2.9 million, i.e. EUR 383,345, from the company’s giro account to his personal current accounts, which he used for the purchase of an apartment, a motorcycle and personal needs, thus obtaining a significant financial benefit for himself and causing great damage to his company.

It was also revealed that in November 2021, he transferred to himself the ownership of an Audi car with a market value of EUR 13,160, without paying the company.

The police are pressing criminal charges against the 35-year-old to the competent county state prosecutor’s office on suspicion of having committed criminal offenses of abuse of trust in business operations.
