Taxi drivers block Belgrade, first protest is over (PHOTO)
More than a thousand taxi drivers held a protest in Belgrade today, during which cars blocked all four accesses to the Serbian government, two from Kneza Milosa and two from Nemanjina Street. The taxi drivers demand that the state enforce the law and punish those who „illegally organize taxi transportation through applications“. According to N1 TV, Aleksandar Bjelic of the Taxi Association of Serbia told those who gathered that they would no longer look for a solution through institutions but that they „are taking matters into their own hands“. The protests are organized because the state is not enforcing the law against „the companies and associations that illegally, through applications, carry out taxi transportation,“ it was posted on the Facebook page of the Taxi Chamber of Serbia. They announced that protests would be organized daily from 1pm to 3pm.
