State gave them a minibus, but the law does not allow them to use it

President of the Municipality of Bosilegrad, Vladimir Zaharijev, has appealed to the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure to enable underdeveloped municipalities that received minibuses to use them.

Zaharijev said that several municipalities had received minibuses from the Ministry of Rural Welfare, but that the law did not allow municipalities to obtain the license necessary for public transport.

„The law stipulates that only companies can obtain a license, so it is necessary to supplement or amend it in order for municipalities that do not have organized public transport on their territory to be able to obtain that certificate,“ Zaharijev said in Nis.

He stressed that the transportation of the villagers was a big problem and that people were eagerly waiting for minibuses to start operating.

„We have received the approval of the Ministry of Local Self-Government to hire two drivers and have provided funds for transport costs in the budget. However, the license has proved to be a big problem,“ Zaharijev said.
