Srbija voz: One „Soko“ train damaged, manufacturer’s report expected

The company Srbija voz has stated that during a regular technical inspection last week, on an electric motor set, a malfunction was detected on the wheel tread, due to the impact of an object on the track.

The statement says that the final cause of the damage will be determined only after wheel reprofiling and detailed analysis and testing.

“Preventively, after the observed damage on the first train, wheel control was performed on other electric motor sets on a daily basis. As the electric motor sets are covered by the warranty, Srbija voz expects an official report from the train manufacturer,“ the company said.

They pointed out that the procurement of electric motor trains of the 410/418 batch, manufactured by Stadler, Switzerland, was carried out in accordance with legal procedures, and that Serbia did not commit to the purchase of trains.

„Depending on the needs of transport, there is a plan to procure new electric motor sets. The procurement of trains will be required when a high-speed line is established from Belgrade to Subotica, or further to Budapest,“ said Srbija voz.

The Democratic Party (DS) has asked earlier the management of Zeleznice Srbije and Srbija voz to issue a public statement about the information according to which mulfunction was detected on „yet another“ Soko train, whereby, according to the DS, the second train running on the Belgrade-Novi Sad high-speed railway is currently not in use.
