Serbia has not fulfilled a single recommendation in order to prevent corruption

The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) of the European Council stipulates in its latest report that Serbia has not fulfilled a single out of 13 recommendations in field of prevention of corruption among MPs, judges and prosecutors.

The Transition Compliance Report, completed within the fourth round of assessments, stipulates that 10 recommendations were partially implemented, while nothing was done about the remaining three.

Despite that, GRECO evaluated in its report that overall level of compliance with recommendations provided to Serbia is no longer „globally unsatisfactory“, and Serbian authorities are urged to continue their efforts in implementation of recommendations.

It is pointed out that an important step forward was made in field of preventing corruption among MPs, by adoption of the Law on Lobbying, but a more determined campaign is necessary as well.

It is also stated that adoption of a law on prevention of corruption is crucial for amending regulations related to the conflict of interest and related issues, referring to MPs, judges and prosecutors, and for strengthening the role of the Anti-Corruption Agency.
