„Salaries of the majority of people are poor, the minimum wage should be RSD 98,000“
The minimum wage in Serbia is only a third of what is needed for a fundamentally decent life, representatives of the international network Clean Clothes Campaign announced in Belgrade.
At the presentation of a concept of the Regional Lowest Salary for Living in Europe, developed by that network, it was said that the salary for living in Serbia would amount to RSD 98,000, according to the calculation determined through field research in 15 countries of Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe.
The national coordinator of the Clean Clothes Campaign in Serbia, Bojana Tamindzija, said that salaries received by most employees in the region „can be characterized as poor, even though the salary for life is a human right recognized in documents of the United Nations and the European Union.“
