Records show 553.000 unemployed, commendations from the World Bank

There are 553.000 unemployed people in Serbia, 11 percent less than a year ago, Director of the National Employment Service (NES) Zoran Martinovic has stated in Nis.

At the presentation of contracts to users of measures and programs stipulated by the Local Employment Action Plan, he has said that number of unemployed people is decreasing all over Serbia.

„Active measures of employment at state level encompass 22,000 people, and NES has set aside RSD300 million for programs and measures of active employment policy this year,“ Martinovic has said.

Martinovic has said that self-employment program is the most wanted among the unemployed, while employers mostly ask for a program of opening new job positions, internship and public work.

According to the Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic, thanks to arrival of investors and active employment measures, the number of the unemployed in city has dropped from 36,000 to 25,000, and number of employees has increased from 61,000 to 77,000.
