Record growth in Serbian tourism
From January to July this year, Serbia had a growth in tourist turnover 73 percent higher than in the same period in 2019, according to a report of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, has said that the number of tourist arrivals by the beginning of the year increased by 48.1 percent compared to the same period last year, while the foreign exchange inflow from tourism increased by 57.9 percent during the first six months compared to the same period in 2021, the Ministry of Tourism said in a press release.
„The World Tourism Organization has recognized this record-breaking growth and it is actually a strong wind in the sails and a powerful incentive that encourages us to achieve even greater successes,“ Matic said.
A UNWTO report published on the occasion of the World Tourism Day said that the promotion of tourism, open borders and the general recovery of industry after the pandemic contributed to the growth of tourism in Serbia despite high inflation.
