Nedimovic: Bread and flour will not rise in price over the next 60 days

Agriculture Minister Branislav Nedimovic has said that due to the decision that the export of flour will be completely unrestricted, Serbia will earn 50 to 60 million euros and that the situation in Serbia will not be jeopardized at any time.

„We have a surplus of 170,000 tons of flour, if we take into account that Serbia exports 10,000 to 12,000 tons, we have quantities sufficient for 15 months of export, and remember that we have a million tons of wheat in stock that can be ground very easily,“ Nedimovic said on RTS TV.

He added that good sowing was expected, a yield of 4.5 million tons of wheat, and as he added, the production of sunflower oil was three times higher than consumption.

Nedimovic still believes that the decision to freeze export for 45 days was a good one to balance the stock situation in the country.

He stated that recently India froze export, that Russia also banned export, and that „the sixth wheat producer in the world, Ukraine, is in a huge export problem“.

„Flour in the packs of one and five kilos and bread will not rise in price in the next 60 days, but the government has the right to intervene if there are disruptions, and it seems likely that there will be a complete chaos on the world market,“ said Nedimovic.
