
Japan’s Nidec starts construction of a factory worth EUR 250 million in Serbia
The Japanese company Nidec has started the construction of an electric motor factory in Novi Sad, which will employ 480 workers in the first phase.
For one of the highest investments in Serbia, worth around EUR 250 million, the Government of Serbia has given provided of 8.9 million euros.
The laying of the foundation stone for the factory, which should be opened next year, was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Nidec Corporation’s CEO Jun Seki, Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Takahiko Katsumata and Nidec Factory Director in Serbia Marko Ivovic.
Vucic said that the arrival of Nidec, which produces the best electric motors in the world, was a fantastic success for Serbia.
„When Nidec comes to Serbia, it means that we have made progress, that we have been able to beat the competition, but also to show this type of responsibility that was not characteristic of us in the past. This is an investment that will provide us with income to invest in infrastructure, roads, water supply, sewerage network,“ said Vucic.
