Inflation in Serbia reached 7.9% last year

The inflation reached 7.9 percent last year, according to the just published data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

The monthly inflation in Serbia in December reached 0.4 percent, and the year-on-year inflation was 7.9 percent, said the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

In 2021, compared to 2020, consumer prices that are used for measuring the inflation increased by an average of four percent.

What has become more expensive?

In December 2021, compared to the previous month, price growth was recorded in the categories of communications (1.2 percent), restaurants and hotels (0.8 percent), housing equipment and current maintenance (0.7 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.6 percent).

The prices of goods and services rose in the categories of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, recreation and culture (by 0.5 percent each), clothing and footwear (0.4 percent), food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.3 percent) and health (0.2 percent).

According to the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, consumer prices in December 2021, compared to the same month last year, increased by 7.9 percent.

The price of food increased most – by 12.7 percent. Within it, vegetables increased in price most, followed by types of oil and lard, and meat.

Products from the category „coffee, tea and cocoa“ also rose in price by more than ten percent.

Transport increased in price by 13.5 percent, and within it the highest price increase, of almost 23 percent, is recorded by fuels and lubricants for passenger vehicles.
