Half of cars at Car Show bought for cash

Buyers in Serbia have spent about 20 million euros at the Belgrade Car Show. Moreover, every other vehicle at the event was purchased in cash.

In total, 2,000 vehicles were sold, among which there are fewest fully electric vehicles. More than 75 vehicles in the class of more than 150,000 euros were sold, which is not included in the total number of sales, because it is a separate class. Only five percent of fully electric vehicles were purchased.

If we want better air, a cleaner environment, we will have to invest at least EUR 11 billion to meet the requirements of the Charter of 27 European Union member states related to the prevention of air pollution by motor vehicles, according to experts of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Current donations are not a good enough reason for someone to buy a fully electric vehicle, because the infrastructure is not mandatory and does not exist. There are still problems with registration and homologation, although Europe has become very liberal in this regard.

„Based on what we have received as some new European directives, there is now a possibility that after 10 years of using electric cars, the total value of that car will be zero. Why? Because after ten years, it is necessary to replace the battery, the replacement of the battery at the current prices is about 10,000 euros and then the vehicle is not worth that much so the project is to recycle such vehicles,“ says Milos Petrovic of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, for RTS TV.
