EU, World Bank: EUR 84 million for innovation support project in Serbia

The representatives of the European Union and the World Bank signed a contract in Belgrade on a joint project to support research, innovation and entrepreneurship in Serbia.

The contract was signed in the Science and Technology Park, in the presence of the highest officials of Serbia, by Head of the EU Delegation to Belgrade, Emmanuel Joffre, and the World Bank’s project manager, Dusko Vasiljevic.

The project includes, among other things, structural reforms and modernisation of the research sector, as well as further strengthening of the startup community, which should contribute to Serbia’s better competitiveness on the European and international markets.

The research and startup community project is financed by the European Union, which donates 41.5 million euros, and the World Bank, which will lend 43 million euros, and it will be implemented in cooperation with the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.
