    Fewer building permits: Most of the construction is done in Belgrade and on the Zlatibor Mountain

    A total of 2,187 building permits were issued in June of this year, which is 9.7 percent less than in the same period of the previous year, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced.

    Of the total number of permits issued in June, 78.1 percent refer to building permits and 21.9 percent to other structures.

    If only buildings are taken into consideration, 79 percent of permits were issued for residential and 21 percent for non-residential buildings, while other construction permits are mostly related to pipelines, communication and power lines (75.4 percent).

    According to the permits issued in Serbia in June, the construction of 3,629 apartments with an average area of ​​71.9 square metres was reported.

    Of the total number of apartments in newly constructed buildings, 8.9 percent will be houses, with an average area of ​​142.6 square metres, and 90 percent of apartments will be built in buildings with three or more apartments and their average area will be 63.8 square metres.

     The highest construction activity is expected in Belgrade, 26.5 percent of the estimated value of the new construction, followed by the districts of Zlatibor (13.9 percent), Rasina (12.2 percent), South Backa (8.6 percent) and Srem (7.1 percent), while the stake of other districts ranges from 0.1 percent to 5.7 percent.
