ELECTED: Dzajic is president of the Football Federation of Serbia
The honorary president of the Red Star football club Dragan Dzajic was elected in Stara Pazova as the new president of the Football Federation of Serbia.
79 out of 85 delegates were present at the extraordinary election session of the FFS Assembly, and Dzajic received 78 votes, after president of the independent union of professional footballer players Nezavisnost, Mirko Poledica, left the session before the voting.
Dzajic was the only candidate, since the former captain of the national team, Red Star and Manchester United, Nemanja Vidic, withdrew from the election.
Dzajic said that he was honoured by the fact that he was given the opportunity to lead Serbian football and that he accepted the challenge because by winning 36 club trophies, the European and world titles, he could help raise Serbian football to a higher level.
“There are many things in the FFS that work well, but also those that we can improve. We will do our best to make the national team a regular participant in the biggest competitions and to make progress in those competitions. The priority is to participate and have success in the European Championship,“ Dzajic said after being elected president.
