Ana Brnabic to ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange
Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, will close the New York Stock Exchange on Monday with traditional bell ringing, and she will then meet with Stacey Cunningham, President of the Stock Exchange.
„Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic, will have the privilege to close the New York Stock Exchange with traditional bell ringing,“ it is announced by the Prime Minister’s office.
At the New York Stock Exchange, every day, since the end of the 19th century, the beginning and the end of the trading sessions are marked. The bell, as a signal for opening and closing the stock exchange, was introduced in 1903.
In 1995, the New York Stock Exchange introduced a tradition of sending regular invitations to high-ranking officials who have the honour of marking the start or the end of a trading session by ringing the bell.
Some of the celebrities who closed the stock exchange as special guests were Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, NASA top managers and partners, basketball star Michael Jordan, designer Ralph Lauren, and others.
