A NEW SUBJECT for high school students: Anthem and then FUNDAMENTALS OF DEFENSE of Serbia

The Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development are preparing „Fundamentals of the Defence System of the Republic of Serbia“ as a new optional subject for third and fourth grade high school students, the Ministry of Defence announced.

As it is added, within that subject, students will learn „basic things about our army, about how it functions, how it is organized“, as well as about the tradition and history of the Serbian Army.

The classes will begin with the intonation of the Serbian anthem „God of Justice“, „which aims to strengthen the patriotic spirit and identify young people with their country“.

Lieutenant Colonel Milan Krsmanovic of the Military Duties Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, stated that this subject is important for students of final grades of high schools because they „as adult citizens already have rights and obligations towards state, are listed in military records, can choose to enrol into a military academy, become professional soldiers or opt for military service.“
