5 months for reconstruction: Belgrade’s eyesore to be replaced by new TERAZIJE PASSAGE (PHOTO)

The underground passage at Terazije will soon get a new look.

A few days ago, the reconstruction of the underground passage at Terazije, near the Balkan Hotel, began. The works were supposed to start in November last year, as Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic announced at the time.

The underground corridors through which thousands of fellow citizens, but also tourists pass every day, which have been neglected for decades and which are leaking and in a very bad condition, will be repaired.

As Vesic announced at the time, the plan is to repair the underground passage near the Balkan Hotel, followed by the section near the Palace Albania and near Iguman’s Palace and the works will last for about three months.

Canopies will be replaced, cameras will be installed, graffiti will be removed. New stairs will also be built, as well as new ramps for the disabled.

As it can be seen on the board at the reconstruction site, the passage will look better and more modern. The company in charge of performing the works is Ras Inženjering Niskogradnja. We will be able to walk through the new underground passage in May this year.

We are waiting for the reconstruction of Bezistan

The project for the reconstruction of Bezistan was done four years ago. The reconstruction of Bezistan is waiting for the amendment of the general regulation plan, which will make this part of Belgrade a public area, because it is currently owned by several legal and natural persons. This plan should be discussed by city councillors on February 14, as RTS TV reports.

Vesic also announced the reconstruction of the underground passage „Zeleni Venac“, which should start in autumn.
