World Bank’s new loan for energy efficiency projects in Serbia
The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors has approved a new loan to Serbia worth US$50 million for the Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency Project for citizens.
„In order to help Serbia achieve its strategic goals, decarbonise the economy and involve more citizens in the energy transition, the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved today a US$50 million loan for the Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency Project,“ the press release says.
It is added that the project aims to contribute to energy savings and provide citizens with greater comfort and warmer homes, through investments in clean and efficient heating solutions and installation of roof solar panel systems, and abandoning fossil fuels that pollute the air.
„The housing sector in Serbia has great untapped potential for improving energy efficiency because households make up about one third of Serbia’s final energy consumption and about three quarters of the energy they use for heating,“ said Nicola Pontara, director of the World Bank’s office in Serbia.
