„We resist crises, we fend off shocks“

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said the state has the capacity to fend off all economic shocks such as the current energy crisis.

„It requires a lot of work and it could not be done without the cooperation of the Government of Serbia and the President of the Republic. Thus, we manage to resist all the crises that have taken place so far and to continue to grow, create jobs, increase salaries and pensions, while maintaining macroeconomic stability and preventing our public debt from exceeding 60 percent of GDP,“ said Brnabic after the presentation of the results of one year of work of the current members of the Government of Serbia.

She reiterated that the state had always kept in reserve funds for emergencies and crises that might arise, which is why a more conservative economic model of the budget for next year was chosen.

„That means going with a 7.4 percent increase in public sector salaries and 5.5 percent in pensions, in order to leave significant room for any unforeseen circumstances.“
