Transparency Serbia: Before a new call for applications for director of EPS, finalize the previous two

Before the state decides to appoint the director of Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) through a call for applications, the previous two calls, announced in 2016 and 2017, should be finalized, even if there were no applications or they are invalid, said a member of the Board of Transparency Serbia Zlatko Minic.

„In order to announce a call for applications for the appointment of the director of EPS, it is necessary to finalize the two calls for applications that were announced in 2016 and 2017,“ Minic told the Beta agency, commenting on the statement of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that the current acting director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, could be considered to have resigned in mid-December 2021 due to the collapse of EPS and that they were „just waiting for the system to be established“.

Minic recalled that the problem was that out of 34 public and state-owned companies, only nine had directors appointed through calls for applications, and that the reason was the fact that Vucic said two years ago that he „will not give up on acting directors“.

Grcic’s term expired in 2017, and despite the fact that Vucic resigned on his behalf, he is still the head of the biggest public company.
