The “Moms are the law” initiative: The 2019 budget does not foresee additional funds for postpartum women

No additional and necessary funds for postpartum women in Serbia are set asside in the Budget Proposal for 2019, the “Moms are the law” initiative has announced.

With such budget proposal, the Government “turned its back” and unambiguously made it clear that pro-birth rate measures are only a dead letter, estimated from this initiative.

They added that they will try to add the Bill on Amendments of the Law on Financial Support to Families with Children to the daily agenda of the Serbian Assembly, even as the last point, otherwise they will organize protests once again.

“Ignoring our demands will lead to new protests. This is the last thing we want, but we will be forced to do so if representatives of the Ministry of Finance and other competent ministries do not understand how urgent our problems are – here we are on the verge of winter, and large number of postpartum women will receive amounts of barely a couple of thousand dinars, the “Moms are a law” initiative announced.
