Stellantis is doing great, electric cars “push” profits
The car manufacturer Stellantis has reported higher earnings in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period last year, as well as a nearly 50% increase in global sales of battery-powered electric vehicles.
Stellantis, formed last year by the merger of Fiat Chrysler and French firm PSA Peugeot, said its net income in the first six months of 2022 reached 88 billion euros, which is an increase of 17% compared to the first half of last year.
Stellantis’ net profit reached eight billion euros, which is a 34 percent growth, the company added.
The fourth largest car manufacturer in the world also stated that the sale of its battery-powered electric vehicles increased by almost 50% compared to last year, to 136,000 units.
