The Council of the State Aid Control Commission has issued a decision ordering the company „Technic Development“, the investor and manufacturer of Geox footwear in Vranje, to repay the state aid because it was granted to them contrary to the provisions of the Law on State Aid Control.
This company should return the aid of RSD 90,687,891.33, increased by the legal default interest, starting from April 1, 2016 until the day of repaying the used amount, it is stated in the decision.
Furthermore, it should return the aid of RSD 323,356,500.00 increased by the legal default interest, starting from December 23, 2016 until the day of repaying the used amount.
The decision states that the Ministry of Economy is ordered to, without delay, take measures to ensure the repayment of state aid.
„Technic development“ produced footwear in Vranje of the Italian company Geox, which officially stopped operating at the beginning of August, and about 1,200 workers lost their jobs.
Geox operated in Vranje for five and a half years, and during that time it received subsidies of about 16 million euros from the state, which were mainly used to pay salaries to workers.
