Serbia’s battle for Volkswagen: We offer location as well as the route of BG subway
Serbia has offered Volkswagen a location in Indjija for construction of the plant and proper documentation with plot details is already at the table of Wolfsburg based company.
The proposal for additional investments that Serbia is prepared to do is also at the table, if automotive giant decides to choose our country, the „Novosti“ daily newspaper reports.
It is also offered that one of the lines of future Belgrade subway operates all the way to Indjija, so that residents of Belgrade could work in those facilities.
The largest obstacle for Volkswagen, as newspaper reports, was how to reach a qualified workforce. That is why Serbia has decided to offer Germans construction of its facilities, in a centre in which almost three million people live in a relatively small area, halfway between Novi Sad and Belgrade, so that inhabitants of both cities can get employment there.
Indjija was also chosen due to very good infrastructure, proximity of road and railway corridors, but also as a municipality that has by far the best reputation in Serbia when it comes to administration and easy opening of plants. There are already dozens of both foreign and domestic plants doing business on the territory of Indjija, and there is barely a single investor who regretted coming to this town.
