Serbia on Google’s black list

The company Google has put Serbia on the black list of countries, i.e. it abolished cooperation and access to their ecosystem G Suite.

This, in simplified terms, means that Google’s business service users are left without tools owing to which they were doing business smoothly and worked side by side with world-class businesses.

Google has not yet officially revealed the reasons why it decided to ban Serbia, reports Vice. The company is expected to soon publish an official press release about the reasons why it no longer cooperates with Serbia.

However, the basic assumption in the Serbian IT community is that Google is adhering to the recommendations of the FATF intergovernmental organisation that placed Serbia among 11 high-risk countries.

This organisation combats money laundering and the financing of terrorist organisations, and high-risk countries, except Serbia, also include North Korea, Ethiopia, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Yemen and Vanuatu.

G Suite – formerly known as Google Apps for Work and Google Apps for Your Domain – is a system of cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools, software and products developed by Google.

Its purpose is to provide businesses with all the tools that facilitate doing business in digital times. Although there is no official announcement yet, access to the Suite system for new users from Serbia is already disabled.

Placing Serbia on the blacklist will also have consequences for the current business users of Google services who can access their accounts and use them, but their status is „frozen“, that is, they will not be able to use new options when they are introduced by Google, or upgrade to Suite new versions, which will inevitably appear.
