Serbia and Alibaba have an agreement, but on confidentiality

The company Alibaba Group and the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications have signed a Confidentiality Agreement, which obliges both parties not to publically disclose information on the ongoing cooperation negotiations, Ministry in charge has announced.

State Secretary Tatjana Matic has reminded that back in September it was agreed at the meeting with Vice President of Alibaba Helen Hu and Alibaba’s team for Europe at company headquarters to complete all plans by the end of the year, with the ultimate goal of releasing the electronic payment platform Alipay on the Serbian market, and to promote Serbia’s tourist offer at Chinese market.

“Upon conclusion of negotiations, we will issue a joint statement on hopefully successful results and further steps related to strengthening of cooperation,” Matic has said, according to statement.

As expected, Alibaba’s Fligy platform would significantly contribute to the promotion of Serbia as a destination, as well as ease arrival of numerous tourists from China to Serbia.

That platform of the Chinese giant in the field of digital economy is particularly important due to the fact that number of Chinese tourists increased by 180.8 percent when compared to 2016, while that increase in first half of this year was 97 percent, when compared to the same period last year, the statement said.
