Research: Developers in Serbia earn EUR 7,500, average is EUR 1,225
The average net salary of a programmer is EUR 1,225, according to data from the site for hiring IT candidates in Serbia, Helloworld.rs. The highest paid position is Software Engineer with the net amount of EUR 7,500, in Belgrade.
The amount of salary in the IT industry depends on several factors.
Seniority comes first, i.e. years of relevant experience – thus the average salary of a senior programmer is EUR 1,724, mid-level programmer EUR 1,144 and junior programmer EUR 736.
An interesting data is that, although senior programmers belong to the group of occupations that are in deficit, the most advertised jobs in 2020 were for mid-level developers – as much as 65 percent of the total advertised IT jobs.
In addition to seniority, the amount of salary is also affected by the technology used by programmers. Therefore, the top 5 highest paid positions in the IT industry are: Technical Lead with an average salary of EUR 2,520, Delivery Manager with an average salary of EUR 2,300, Solution Architect with an average salary of EUR 2,258, Software Architect with an average salary of EUR 2,244 and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with an average salary of EUR 2,029.
Previously conducted research has shown that during 2020, employers were most looking for programmers who know the following technologies: JavaScript, Java, NET, PHP, Python, C# and C ++.
In addition to technology, the city in which the company that employs is located also has an effect on the salary. Thus, the average salaries in IT centres in Serbia are: Belgrade with an average of EUR 1,664, Novi Sad EUR 1,104, Nis EUR 1,229, Subotica EUR 831 and Kragujevac with EUR 1,196.
If one looks which positions are the highest paid in IT centres in Serbia, according to entries of candidates on the page Helloworld.rs, the situation is as follows:
In Belgrade, Software Engineer is the highest paying position, with a net amount of EUR 7,500.
In Novi Sad, it is the position of a Software Developer and IT manager with a net salary of EUR 3,000.
In Nis, it is the position of a Technical Lead and a net salary of EUR 3,500.
Software Architect with a job in Subotica has a net salary of EUR 1,700.
And in Kragujevac, the highest paying position is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a net salary of EUR 2,800.
