Raspberry producers to create a political party as well

In all likelihood Serbia will get a new political party. Four agricultural associations from Prijepolje, Priboj, Uzice and Sabac have reached decision to actively engage in politics on the first following elections. They see engagement in politics as the “necessary evil” and the only way to fight for rights of agricultural producers and farm workers, the “Vecernje novosti” daily reports.

“We have excellent cooperation with Minister Branislav Nedimovic, but he cannot single-handedly solve our accumulated problems. It is not our primary goal to engage in politics or to be politically active, because we are primarily agricultural workers who live from their work on households,” Sladjana Stankovic, Chairwoman of the Association of Agricultural Producers from Uzice has said.

Raspberry producers think that solution for their misfortunes, primarily with low purchase price of raspberries, but other products as well, exceeds jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture, that their voice and cry for help does not reach other state bodies, thus now there is no one to protect their interests. That is why they see entrance to republic and local parliament as salvation.
