Gorenje is in Chinese hands, it has major plans for Serbia as well

Chinese Hisense took over all managerial functions at yesterday’s assembly of Velenje based company Gorenje and business activities of both companies will be more and more connected. Hisense announces construction of the TV manufacturing plant in Velenje, and Gorenje plans to enter the Chinese market, SEEbiz cites report published by Slovenian daily newspaper “Delo”.

Assembly of the company Gorenje confirmed „squeezing out“ of minority shareholders. Hisense now owns a 95-percent stake in the company and minority shareholders will receive 12 euros per share, which was the price for the takeover bid. The next step is to transform the company from a joint-stock into a limited liability company.

The shareholders voted for withdrawal of Gorenje’s shares from Ljubljana and Warsaw stock exchanges and representatives of Hisense Group became new members of the Supervisory Board.

CEO of the company Gorenje Franjo Bobinac announced construction of a TV manufacturing plant, an important segment of Hisense’s production. Allegedly they are already looking for land in Velenje for construction of this plant, and the plant is expected to produce one million TV sets a year and employ 300 to 400 workers.
