Public enforcement officers will make less money and will be under control

The Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic has announced that the upcoming amendments to the Law on Enforcement and Security will reduce fees for the work of public enforcement officers, supervision of their work will increase and e-auction will be introduced for sale of real estate in the enforcement.

„There will be no expansion or limitation of the jurisdiction of public enforcement officers, as we are expanding supervision over their work instead. One of the major amendments to the Law on Enforcement and Security will refer to fees for the work of public enforcement officers, as we have determined that there are numerous activities that can be charged at significantly lower tariff“, Kuburovic has pointed out.

She has reminded that during previous year they were working on development of the Judicial Information System, which enabled courts, prosecutors, enforcement officers and notaries to have electronic access to data, so they do not have to communicate with other authorities in writing anymore. „There is no reason to charge something that you can now do in one minute, thus fees (charged by public enforcement officers) will be significantly reduced, and supervision of their work will certainly be strengthened,“ the justice minister has stated.

She has pointed out that one of the biggest amendments to the Law on Enforcement and Security will be introduction of an e-auction, which will, as she says, exclude the possibility of malfeasances in the sale of real estate.

According to her, the highest number of complaints comes to the Ministry of Justice regarding the very sale of immovable property. „In order to eliminate every form and possibility of abuse, have a transparent process and enable everyone who wants to participate in this process, we advocate the introduction of e-auctions, as this will limit enforcement officers to a certain extent,“ Kuburovic has said.

The Work Group in charge of amendments to the Law on Enforcement and Security was formed last year and its work is ongoing.
