An agreement between Serbia and Britain on road transport
The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and the British Minister of State for the Department for Transport Jesse Norman have signed the Agreement on International Road Transport between Serbia and Great Britain in London.
Mihajlovic has stated that this is „first and foremost an important day for Serbian carriers,“ because signed agreement foresees full liberalization of road transport between Serbia and Great Britain and cargo transport without permits and licenses that so far were the problem.
„This is good news for Serbian carriers, bearing in mind the fact that merchandise exchange and number of freight routes they have with Great Britain are constantly increasing. We also talked about air traffic and a bilateral agreement that we will soon make in that area,“ Mihajlovic has said.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the Agreement on International Road Traffic between Great Britain and Serbia significantly improves the position of Serbian carriers in the international freight transport.
As stated, Norman has said that the agreement is a huge step forward for both countries and further international cooperation. „I am extremely pleased with the agreement, this is important for my country, and it is important for Serbia as well,“ the British minister has said.
Prior to the meeting, held in the building of the British Parliament, Mihajlovic and her associates visited the largest construction site in Great Britain and Europe, construction of a railway beneath London. It’s a project worth more than 15 billion pounds.
