Protest of event workers: 30,000 people without a JOB and without ASSISTANCE for 13 months

The employees in the event industry, who organize various events, hospitality workers, musicians, more than 1,000 of them protested in front of the Government of Serbia, because of the decision of the Crisis Staff that they could work part-time or only occasionally because of the risk of the spreading of the pandemic.

The rally under the slogan „Protest for survival“ caused traffic jams and interruptions at the intersection of Kneza Milosa and Nemanjina streets.

Chairman of the Management Board of the Event Industry Association, Nikola Jankovic, said before the rally that the sector had not been working for 13 months, and that they had not received sector support from the Government of Serbia.

According to him, it is estimated that about 30,000 people work in the event industry.

The employees in that industry request to be allowed to work with the strict application of anti-epidemiological measures, and the same request will be submitted to the Government of Serbia by hospitality workers.

They also request from the Government direct financial assistance for this most affected economic activity for the period since they have not been working, because they say that many are in huge debts and facing bankruptcy.
