Producers of baby food, ice cream and confectioners are exempted from milk powder duties

The Serbian Chamber of Commerce (SCC) announced today that baby food, ice cream producers and confectioners have been exempted from milk powder duties since the beginning of this year, which is why they are expected to save more than 700,000 euros in 2019.

Secretary of the Food Industry Association of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Dimitrije Ivanovic has said that since January 1, amendments have been applied in Serbia to the decision on the determination of agricultural and food products on which a special import duty is charged.

„In cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Finance, the SCC successfully implemented the initiative to abolish the milk powder duty for the production of baby food in 2019. This benefit was also realized by the manufacturers in the confectionery industry and ice cream manufacturers which have already achieved savings in production and distribution and have secured greater product competitiveness on the domestic and foreign markets,“ Ivanovic said.
