    Private pensions on a rise

Assets in private pension funds in Serbia, after 12 years of business, has exceeded RSD40 billion. More than 190,000 citizens invest in private pension funds, and two thousand already receive private pension.

There would have been more private pensioners, if law prior to amendments had not allowed a short-term money withdrawal.

„The average pension is around RSD9,000, and since foundation we paid more than 43,000 requests besides regular pensions,“ Director of „Dunav“ pension fund Zoran Milivojevic says.

Those who signed contract before amendments of the law are eligible for pension at the age of 53, and now at the age of 58. The amount of pension depends on invested and agreed payment period.

Public enterprises have given a good incentive to development of pension funds in our country. When market got reformed a decade ago, majority of public enterprises started paying additional pension to their workers. However, that did not last long due to crisis, thus today there are only a few enterprises that are still paying pensions.
