PRICES of basic foods and gas RESTRICTED in Serbia

The Government of Serbia has adopted the Regulation on a temporary measure of limiting the price of gas and compensation for the difference in the price of natural gas procured from import or produced in Serbia in the event of a disturbance on the natural gas market.

The regulation, according to the government’s press release, is aimed at mitigating the consequences of the energy crisis in order to protect the economy and citizens who use this energy product.

„Energy entities that perform the activities of natural gas supply and wholesale supply are forced to import this energy product at a price that is many times higher than the price from November last year,“ the press release adds.

In order to secure the necessary quantities of energy products for the upcoming heating season, the Government has decided to provide suppliers with the right to reimbursement of the difference in the price of natural gas procured from import and the price of natural gas from import used for the calculation of the price for further sales for November 2021, as well as the right to reimbursement of the difference in the current price of natural gas produced in Serbia compared to the same month last year.

Milk, flour, meat, sugar

The Government of Serbia has also limited the prices of basic foods, prescribing the maximum retail price of milk with 2.8 percent milk fat in a 1 litre package, as well as the maximum margin of flour types T-400 and T-500 in packs of up to five kilograms.

The total margin rates of pork leg and boneless pork shoulder, pork neck and boneless pork loin were also determined, as well as the total margin rates. The Regulation also stipulates the maximum producer’s and retail price of fresh chicken meat, as well as the total margin rate.
