Novi Sad – Subotica railway closes, works on high-speed railway begin
Due to the construction of the high-speed railway, railway traffic between Novi Sad and Subotica will be suspended as of Thursday, according to the Serbian Railway Infrastructure.
The construction of the high-speed railway Novi Sad – Subotica – Kelebija state border is the reason why the section Rasputnica Sajlovo – Vrbas – Aleksandrovo Predgradje will be closed.
The deadline for the completion of the works is 33 months from the complete suspension of traffic on the entire route from Novi Sad to Subotica.
This means that the completion of the Novi Sad-Subotica high-speed railway is planned by the end of 2024. The contractor is the Chinese consortium China Railway International and “China Communications Construction Company”, and the contract value is US$1.16 billion.
During the suspension of railway traffic, trains will run along the Novi Sad – Rasputnica Sajlovo – Odzaci – Bogojevo – Sombor – Subotica route and the supplementary route Novi Sad – Rasputnica Sajlovo – Rimski Sancevi – Orlovat – Zrenjanin – Banatsko Milosevo – Senta – Subotica.
