New fuel labels in Europe
The new EU directive on uniform fuel labels will start being implemented in Serbia as of October 12th, which should harmonize the identification of fuel in the entire Europe and secure wider access to alternative fuels.
Distributors all over Europe claim that a certain transitional period will be needed and new labels will perhaps not be displayed immediately at all petrol stations, “EurActiv” reports.
Labels of various shapes with new fuel designations will be mandatory on petrol stations and new vehicles of all categories produced after October 11th, 2018.
Directive 2014/94/EU of the European Parliament and Council will be valid in all 28 member states of the Union, as well as Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Following Brexit, Great Britain should decide on implementation of the directive.
Besides mandatory unique label of standardized format, additional information in national languages can also be displayed on petrol stations, which will aid users to choose the right fuel.
