NBS closes 90 exchange offices: IRREGULARITIES in operation detected

Due to various irregularities in operation, the National Bank of Serbia has so far closed 90 exchange offices in Belgrade and Novi Sad for a period of 30 days.

A number of irregularities have been identified, not only in relation to the exchange rate range, but also in relation to the purchase and sale of cash outside working hours, as RTS TV was told by Bojan Terzic, Director General of the NBS Sector for the Protection of Financial Service Customers.

According to him, there was also a discrepancy between the available cash and dinars, and there were persons who did not have a certificate for work in exchange offices.

The National Bank of Serbia will continue with intensive inspections in the coming period, Terzic said, pointing out that the state wanted to show that the regulations were clear, that they had to be implemented and that the law applied to everyone.

He stated that the demand for foreign currency had decreased dramatically and he told citizens not to buy euros, because there was no problem with the exchange rate as there used to be.
