Memorandum for trading in secondary raw materials signed at Produktna berza

Today, the Environmental Protection Agency and Produktna berza Novi Sad signed a Memorandum of Cooperation that should enable the start of commodity trading in secondary raw materials whose market in Serbia is estimated at EUR 200 to 300 million.

„The aim of the Memorandum is to enable the development of the secondary raw material market in Serbia and increase the access of a greater number of buyers to raw materials in a simpler, safer and faster way. In the next few months, the first trading session should be enabled,“ said Milos Janjic, Director of Produktna berza, after the signing of the Memorandum with Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Filip Radovic.

He said that it would be the first commodity exchange of this type in the region and he pointed out that commodity exchanges in England and Turkey were an example of good business.

As he said, the commodity exchange will, introduce a large quantity of secondary raw materials into the legal flows, it will provide the domestic industry with sufficient materials for work, and the quality of secondary raw materials will be determined.

The EU demands, as he recalled, an increase in the recycling coefficient and an increase in the circular economy, and the commodities that would encourage the market are metal, PET packaging and paper.
