Member of Fiat’s trade union: Someone came up with all this to force workers to leave the company

President of the Independent Trade Union of the Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) factory in Serbia, Sasa Djordjevic, has said that workers are going to the factory these days to get more information about the offer to go abroad, but also to express their opinion about it.

He told the Beta agency that the employees still did not have a formal offer from the employer regarding their status, and that the workers were not signing anything during the talks.

According to Djordjevic, FCA does not have any numbers, that is, the company’s plan on how many workers can go abroad to work, as well as how many workers will be redundant is still unknown.

He noted that there had been no progress since last week’s talks between the representatives of the three trade unions and the employer in the appropriate ministry.

Djordjevic said the employer was sticking to its conditions, that is, the offer for workers to go to work for two years in Stellantis’ factories abroad. An alternative option is a dismissal.

As he stated, since FCA workers are young people with families, 95 percent of them cannot accept the offer to go abroad.

Djordjevic pointed out that it seemed to him that „someone“ had come up with all this in order to force workers to leave the company.
