Leasing is becoming more and more popular among Serbian companies

The value of newly concluded financial leasing contracts in the second quarter of 2018 increased by 11.3 percent compared to the same period last year, the Association of Leasing Companies of Serbia (ALCS) announced today.

In the first six months of this year, as it is stated, the value of the newly concluded contracts reached EUR 197 million, which is EUR 20 million more than in the same period of 2017.

ALCS Secretary General Teodora Milenkovic has said that the growth in the value of leasing contracts points to the need of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as the most common users of leasing, to invest in business.

„The increase in newly concluded leasing contracts points to increased economic activity in the country, which is reflected in the need of businessmen to improve their products and services in order to fulfil market demands,“ Milenkovic said.

She added that „having in mind that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises participate with 56 percent in the gross domestic product of Serbia, it is clear how important their development is for further economic progress of the state.“

According to her, the owners of small and medium-sized enterprises employ two-thirds of workers in Serbia and, as she said, it is important to provide them with attractive ways of financing investments.

„Such companies often rely on internal sources of capital, such as reserves created in previous years,“ Milenkovic said.

In the second quarter of 2018, financial leasing, as it is stated, financed passenger vehicles in the amount of 82 million euros, commercial and freight vehicles in the amount of 69 million euros, while in the segment of machines and equipment the value of newly concluded contracts amounted to 44 million euros.
